At last Google has started following Bing search. Now they have included the option to add a picture into the homepage like Bing. But in Bing you don’t get a choice to pick your favorite photo. They are added automatically by them and changes everyday but you can see the previous added ones.
Right now it is available to USA users only (Google.com). So you can try it there.
So now you can also personalize your Google homepage background. You can select the image. It can be selected from your PC hard disk, public gallery, Picasa account or choose the editor pick. The option is available at the left bottom corner of the site.
It looks like they want to do something different from their competitors by giving option to choose the one for our self.

Now its between Google and Microsoft, Microsoft started it by replacing Google search with Bing in iPhone, then Google replaced all its Microsoft PCs, now Google is targeting Bing search engine. We will see more things coming in future if this fight goes on like this.
But I dont think they have copied. Other site like ask.com and entireweb is offering it for so many years.

Interesting news. Learn something new everyday. I suppose customizable google will help take a bit back from the Bing market. The thing is that anyone with any sense KNOWS that Google has the BEST RESULTS for what you are looking for.
