Twitter has a big database of thousands of such applications which helps you to make your work more easier and exciting. All of them using their APIs to access your account.

But do you know there are also many bad applications which might suspend your Twitter account? Such sites tweet bad links like advertisement or phishing link (against policy). Twitter keeps suspending such suspicious sites.

To keep track on all the application who are accessing account. Just Click on Connections under Settings option. There you will see the complete list. An applications can have Read and Write (like tweetmeme they can post new tweets anytime without knowledge) or just Read access (like twittercounter just extract your account info).

To remove an application, Click on Revoke Access link and it will be removed from your account.

Make sure you only allow good sites. Spend sometime time to read site reviews before using them.

I use Twitter occasionally but not too often. I did not know about this though. I’ll have to watch out for those applications in my Twitter account.
