Yesterday I was browsing the Facebook. I went to the Ads creation and FAQ page and I got the Privacy Alert.
In the above image, its clearly mentioned about the 3rd party applications rumors. Everyone uses some kind of application like games, calendar or something and these application extracts data from your profile. These applications are built on Facebook API.
So it is clearly mentioned that these are rumors but not the fact. So you don’t have to worry about it but you need to be more careful. Read the Facebook Blog for more info. They have clearly explained everything regarding ads. Many times many users simply click on Allow button without reading the information while accessing applications. Facebook has taken action about such misleading ads.
So I think we should read about Facebook applications guidelines carefully.

Yes thats true. Many times when we register ourself on a website, we don’t read their TOS. It just takes 60 seconds.

This is completely the truth. I never read any terms and conditions, mainly because it is time consuming, and they are always changing. Some TOS can be very long. But what I hear is that 3rd party apps get access to a lot of your private information. I therefore don’t use any apps.
