Facebook visitors crossed Google rank

Well Its a killing news for all Google lovers. Recently (last week) FaceBook ranked number one on the web leaving Google behind. The report is published by Hitwise.

But according to Matt McGee, a writer for SearchEngineLand, these stats includes only the main Google site and it doesn’t include other famous services like Google news, Gmail, Blogs and many more. And he also said that Facebook is chasing the web with a pace.

So I think Google still rules the web if we include all its services.

Hitwise also published returning users report for both sites and if we look at the graph below then we will find that Facebook has 77% returning users and Google news with just 67%.

Since FB is a social networking community so I think this is the main reason for so much popularity. People find their new friends.

So lets see Who will win this battle?

  1. Facebook still needs to figure out how to monetize their site to the extent Google has done. It is about ad revenue from the web and Google is still winning that by miles.
