First of all, the choice you make on which type of camera to buy, depends not only on the differences between the cameras, but also on what you can afford and your skill level. Think about what type of photo shoots you want to take. Are you going to take them of weddings, wildlife, action shoots, family, or landscapes? Not only will you need a different type of camera for the different types of shoots you plan to do but you may also need to consider investing in different types of lenses to help you take better photos in different types of situations. For family shoots, a basic compact camera with 3x to 5x zoom should get the job done. The good thing about it is that you don't have to spend too much money on a camera for family photo use and they all provide similar picture quality.

For example, both the Canon A2400 and the Nikon S4300 have a similar picture quality. The main difference between these types of cameras is that they have different extra little “Luxuries”. One example of this is the Fujifilm Finepix HS25EXR which has a 30x zoom. In addition to that, it has manual and semi-automatic exposure settings for you to learn how to use once you've attained some photography experience.

Furthermore, Digital SLR cameras (Digital Single Lens Reflex) have the ability to take more sharper, brighter and crisper photos than compact cameras. Also, Digital SLR cameras have larger image sensors than compact cameras which allows them to take higher quality photos than compact cameras. One of the best things about this feature is that the picture image quality will stay the same even when made into large print. As mentioned earlier, you may need to change the lens of your camera to capture different types of shoots.

Digital SLR cameras allow you to change these different types of lenses which can be an important advantage over compact cameras. However, if your a beginner photographer and on a budget then two recommended Digital SLR cameras include the Nikon D5100 and the Canon T4i. They are both affordable since most Digital SLR cameras are pricier than compact cameras because of their difference in picture quality. On the other hand compact cameras are less bulkier than digital cameras, therefore, keep in mind to do your due diligence and learn about which type of camera or cameras will fit your photography needs.

Have fun while doing your research on what type of camera may be best for you. Continue learning about the differences between, Digital SLR cameras, compact cameras and other cameras to help you create the best work possible.
