We can't really understand how the guys at Sony managed to fit so much power in such a small case. The Sony VAIO VPCZ122GX measures just 12.4 by 1.3 by 8.3 inches and weighs an amazing less than 3.1 lbs. Yet it features an Intel Core i5 520 M central processing unit, working on a front side bus (FSB) of 2.4 GHz, which can go up to an extreme 2.93 GHz by using its Turbo Boost technology. It uses an L3 cache of 3 MB. This processor managed to rank in top 10 in all of our tests. This laptop comes with 4 GB (2 x 2 GB memory sticks) DDR 3 at 1066 MHz FSB random access memory (RAM), sufficient for even the most resource-intensive applications. Power users will be delighted to find out that they can double this amount to reach the maximum capacity of 8 GB.
Sony VAIO VPCZ122GX has an Nvidia GeForce GT 330 M video card making use of the innovative Intel HD graphics engine, with 1 GB of dedicated VRAM, capable of outputting bright and clear images at a maximum resolution of 1600 x 900 pixels. The 13.1 inch LED backlit display provides top quality graphics. We were thrilled to find a 128 GB (two 64GB units) Serial ATA (SATA) solid state drive (SSD) inside this VAIO. We would have preferred a 256 GB solid state drive, but this is good enough.
