With modern technology, people today are so fortunate to enjoy the advantages that advances in technology have made possible. New developments in PC's have provided people faster and more reliable ways of connecting with people everywhere. Further, advances in computer equipment have also provided better and systematic methods on the implementation and management of computer related information. Since practically everybody relies on the computer for various tasks, research and development have been focused on the computer system.

Indeed information technology is very important. In fact it is essential in basically all sectors of the community. It is not only used for solving mathematical and physical problems in business establishments, but it is also used in process flow systems. Information technology is used for storing, processing, protecting, securing, transmitting, receiving, and retrieving information. As such, in order for all these tasks to be completed, several software and hardware backup procedures are warranted as well.

Basically, in a personal computer, one of the primary components is the data storage. A computer's data storage is actually any data storage component that is used for storing and reading data or information. There are two major types of computer data storage which are the primary storage and the secondary storage. The primary storage is more commonly known as the memory and is directly accessible to the CPU.

On the other hand, secondary storage refers to external memory or auxiliary storage. The most common form of external storage is hard disk drives. Hard drives are usually connected to a computer by a firewire cable, and are usually used by modern computers today. On the other hand, hard drives have limited capacity and accessibility. As such, for bigger and more demanding storage needs like that of small and medium scale businesses, a file-level computer data storage is a wise choice.

Network-attached storage, or NAS, is a storage device that is connected to a computer network in order to provide data access to a number of heterogeneous clients. These days, NAS systems are gaining popularity because they provide a convenient way of sharing data between computers. Also, since it is a shared network resource, it can be fully accessed by all computers. Therefore, storage is utilized based on the real time needs of each client. In addition, an expansion device can be added to the system anytime for as long as the device is recognized by the network.

These are probably some of the reasons why the Network-attached storage drives are preferred over other choices. These devices provide efficient and flexible storage that is accessible to all clients without depending on an additional data server. Moreover, these devices allow an more efficient way of managing the entire storage environment from one focal place because of its remote management tools. To top it all, NAS devices provide superior data protection that businesses demand.
