The HTC Sensation is practically one of the flagship products of the company, which is why it's not surprising why a lot of buzz surrounded the announcement of HTC Sensation XE, the smartphone's successor. This article takes a look at the similarities and differences of these two to help you choose which of these mobile phone powerhouses is the best one for you.

What is added to HTC Sensation XE?

HTC Sensation XE has been designed as an upgrade in the original, and it definitely shows when you look at the add-ons and modifications made to the original. HTC Sensation XE comes with a 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, a clear upgrade from the original 1.2 GHz processor. This makes for a speedier, more powerful smartphone that can handle just about anything you can throw at it. The battery has also been upgraded, with the phone now carrying a 1730 mAh battery that allows you to use the smartphone for several hours worth of talk time.

The biggest upgrade of the handset though is the audio. The phone now comes with Beats Audio, which includes a pair of amped-up earphones designed by Dr. Dre, the hip hop artist and producer, and Beats equalizer profile. When the earphones are attached to the phone, the HTC Sensation XE pulls up the Beats Audio profile that allows you to tweak with the settings to choose the profile that you prefer. As such, you get a definite boost in your audio that fits your preferences whether your like higher volume or higher bass. The bass in particular has been amped up, and you can practically feel the boost when you listen to your audio tracks with these headphones. It's not just the music files that have been audio upgraded; you are also provided the opportunity to upgrade the audio profile of the movies played on HTC Sensation XE, which means saying goodbye to the tinny sounds once and for all. If you don't want that added kick in your audio, you can always turn off the Beats Audio option.

What wasn't changed?

While Sensation XE is a clear upgrade of HTC Sensation, some things were still retained. For example, the design of the phone is quite similar to its predecessor, although Sensation XE now has some red stripes and a darker chassis to distinguish it from the original Sensation. The 4.3-inch screen size and the 8 mp camera were also unchanged. The phone also has 768 MB worth of RAM, which is also the same as the memory capacity of its predecessor.

Certainly, there are a lot of factors that were retained from the original Sensation. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing, since the first Sensation is one of the most highly-lauded phones released by HTC, so carrying the features that buyers liked is a logical decision made by the company.

While similar to its predecessors, the HTC Sensation XE smartphone has several new things in store for buyers to make it a phone worth having. Not only do you get a powerful phone in your hands, you get one that's optimized for music as well, so music lovers will definitely get a kick out of having this phone in their hands.
